About us
Mpumalanga Swimming is the heart of competitive and recreational
swimming in the Mpumalanga province.
As an association, we are dedicated to nurturing talent,
promoting excellence, and fostering a love for the sport at
every level—whether it’s for young swimmers taking their first
strokes or seasoned athletes competing on the global stage.
Our vision and Mission
Our mission is to provide a platform where swimmers of all
abilities can thrive, helping them reach their full potential
through access to high-quality coaching, top-tier facilities,
and a supportive community. We believe that swimming is more
than just a sport; it’s a vehicle for personal development,
discipline, and lifelong fitness.
What We Do
Development Programs: We run grassroots programs that
introduce young swimmers to the sport, focusing on proper
technique and building a strong foundation for future success.
Competitive Swimming: We support competitive swimmers through
local, provincial, and national events, with a pathway that
leads to international representation at the highest levels.
Coaching & Support: Mpumalanga Swimming prides itself on
having highly qualified coaches who work closely with
athletes, offering guidance, expertise, and encouragement
every step of the way. Inclusive Swimming: We believe that
swimming should be accessible to everyone. Our programs
include opportunities for swimmers with disabilities to train
and compete, leading to selections like Nathan Hendricks’ for
the 2024 Paralympic Games.
Our Achievements
Mpumalanga Swimming has a strong tradition of producing elite
athletes, coaches, and officials who go on to represent South
Africa at international events, including the Olympic and
Paralympic Games. We are proud to have members like Nathan
Hendricks, a Paralympic swimmer; Chad Peterson, a coach for
Team SA at the Paralympics; and Emile van Veenhuysen, an open
water official for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
